About me
Susan Tomkins (she/her) is a certified End-of-Life Doula with extensive professional and personal experience in companion care, advocacy and navigating the complexities of the Ontario healthcare system. Along with the knowledge of power of attorney and substitute decision making processes, she provides compassionate support to individuals and their families during life's most challenging transitions. Whether it’s in your own home, a hospital, retirement or long-term care home, Susan offers guidance and helps empower individuals, ensuring that each person's wishes are respected, so they receive the care they deserve. Her professional expertise, combined with a heartfelt commitment to dignity and comfort, makes her an invaluable resource at the end of life.
Susan Tomkins is based in Toronto, ON. She holds a certificate of completion as an End-of-Life Doula from Douglas College as well as certificates of completion in grief training. She is a graduate of York University’s Dance program with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Susan has personal experience advocating for individuals who are aging-in-place, in long-term care homes, as well as those on the autism spectrum. She is also a Section Specific Instructor for the Enhanced Language Training Centre of the Toronto District School Board - introducing new immigrants to the Canadian and Ontario healthcare systems.
She is a supporting member of the End-of-Life Doula Association of Canada and a member of the Death Doula Ontario Network. She is also a volunteer for the Philip Aziz Centre for Hospice Care in Toronto. Recreationally she loves camping, reading and crocheting and is an active Scouter with Scouts Canada.
